All About Alligators NEW!

The American Alligator is a protected species in Florida. They are considered keystone species.

A keystone species is one that other species depend on. If it is removed from an environment it could change an entire ecosystem.

Alligators were once on the endangered species list. They were almost hunted to extinction.

Alligators have since recovered from near extinction. They are protected in Florida, and you must have a special permit to hunt them.

We now have over a million Alligators in Florida!
